Two Electric Solutions for Campervan Converters

Campervan conversions can feel overwhelming—especially when it comes to designing a safe, reliable electrical system. With so many components, charger options, and power requirements to consider, choosing the right setup can quickly become a minefield.

To make things easier, we’ve broken down two excellent electrical solutions that deliver outstanding functionality, strong off-grid performance, and plenty of room for future expansion—all while remaining cost-effective and suitable for a wide range of van builds.

1. SRNE MD1250 - Combined MPPT & DC/DC Converter.

If you’re looking to stay within budget while simplifying your wiring and keeping plenty of room for future expansion, the SRNE MD1250 is an outstanding choice. This versatile all-in-one charging solution can manage up to 700W of solar panels with a 50A MPPT charging current. While you’re on the move, the integrated 50A DC-DC charger keeps your leisure battery topped up directly from the alternator—making it an excellent all-round system for off-grid adventures.

The MD1250 includes Bluetooth connectivity for use with the SRNE App, giving you real-time monitoring of solar generation, loads and battery state of charge (battery monitor required for SOC). It also features a handy “back charge” function, allowing you to recharge your starter battery from the leisure battery if it’s ever drained—a welcome safety net when travelling.

For users who want additional functionality, the system can be expanded with the RMA 7" touchscreen and CU2 smart data module. This upgrade provides:

12V switching (6A channels) for controlling circuits such as lighting

The SRNE SAA is very similar to the MD1250 with one added feature. The SRNE SAA also include an A/C charger for charging from the grid / site electrics. In essence, SRNE SAA provides all the battery charge options that you need.
